ABOUT

The bass Jens Martens was born in Hamburg in 1998. In Freiburg, he came into contact with his first singing teacher, Eduard Wagner, through the university choir; Wagner quickly recognised and nurtured his enthusiasm for classical singing. Since 2023, he has been studying singing at the Freiburg University of Music in Prof. Torsten Meyer’s class, and is currently in his seventh semester of his Bachelor’s degree. He received significant musical inspiration from Peter Rose, amongst others. As part of his vocal studies, Jens Martens has already appeared as a soloist at the Freiburg City Theatre in Maurice Ravel’s “L’Enfant et les sortilèges” and Walter Gronostay’s “Mord”, as well as at the Freiburg University of Music in the operetta “Le testament de la Tante Caroline” by Albert Roussel as Doctor Patogène. Martens holds a PhD in medicine and has studied economics.
